Last week, the ELGU faculty and staff welcomed 24 students from more than 20 nationalities as the inaugural cohort of our flagship LLM in AI, Ethics, Regulation and Innovation.
At the Online Welcome Reception, three lecturers introduced the program: ELGU resident lecturers Prof. Susana de la Sierra and Assoc. Prof. Dora Papadopoulou, and adjunct lecturer Dr. Enrico Buono. They described the opportunities and cutting-edge research that define this moment in AI law and policy.
Dr. Mihalis Kritikos is Secretary of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies at the European Commission. He spoke about the pressing need for young professionals who are well-rounded, multidisciplinary, and focused on solutions. These are the people who will shape the next generation of AI regulation, ethics, and innovation. Dr. Oraiozili-Maria Koutsoupia added that her students will analyze contemporary practice in AI as it unfolds in real time.
Our faculty bring deep experience as innovators and practitioners, and our students arrive with strong and varied backgrounds of their own. Together they form a community well placed to develop the next generation of thoughtful professionals in AI. We look forward to all that this first year will bring.
