Research in public law and governance from the organization that established ELGU

Hero Image

The EPLO Publications is the publishing arm of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO). Its work centers on public law, while reaching into the neighboring fields that shape how societies are governed, from European integration and regional legal studies to history and culture.

The catalog brings together journals, book series, and stand-alone volumes, anchored by the European Review of Public Law, published since 1989. Submissions are accepted in many European languages, so that researchers can reach an international audience in the language they work in.

Publish with the EPLO

EPLO journals welcome original research in public law, governance, and related fields. The essentials are the same across journals. Your manuscript must be original, approved by all co-authors, and not under consideration elsewhere, and you should state your current affiliation and any personal or professional involvement in the subject. Manuscripts are sent by email (submissions@eplopublications.eu), with the name of the target journal in the subject line. Every paper goes through peer review, which normally takes six to eight weeks.

Full articles can run up to 12,000 words including footnotes, with an abstract (about 150–200 words) and a few keywords for indexing. Some journals also accept shorter pieces on recent legislation or case law (1,500–3,000 words) and book reviews (1,000–2,000 words). Each journal sets its own languages and style details, so read the guidelines for your chosen journal before you submit.

Key requirements

  • Length: up to 12,000 words, footnotes included
  • File: Word document, with footnotes (not endnotes)
  • How to send: by email (submissions@eplopublications.eu), naming the target journal in the subject line
  • Review: peer review, usually six to eight weeks
  • Rights: copyright passes to the publisher unless you request otherwise
