Democracy and Rule of Law in South East Europe: Revisiting the Role of Non-State Actors

We are pleased to announce the upcoming conference Democracy and Rule of Law in South East Europe: Revisiting the Role of Non-State Actors, which is organized by Dr. Taygeti Michalakea, ELGU Resident Lecturer and the ELGU in Athens, on 26 September 2025, and is generously funded by Stiftung Mercator.

The conference will bring together academics, legal experts, and practitioners from the Balkans and the broader European South to critically examine the role of non-state actors in shaping democratic governance and the rule of law, with a particular focus on the role and influence of corporate actors.

Further details, including the full program and registration information, will be announced soon.
