ELGU Students (Cascais Campus) Participate in the 30th Lisbon Forum and the North-South Prize Ceremony

Cascais, Portugal — October 31, 2025

Students from the European Law and Governance University (ELGU) postgraduate programs in Cascais participated in the 30th Lisbon Forum (28–29 October), organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.

This year’s Forum, themed “AI and Global Governance: Rights, Representativity and Readiness,” brought together more than 250 policymakers, legal experts, and civil society representatives from around the world to discuss how artificial intelligence can be governed in ways that uphold human rights, democracy, and cultural diversity.

As part of the event, ELGU students also attended the North-South Prize Ceremony at the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, where the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, presented the 2025 Prize to Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, and to the Olympic Refugee Foundation.

The laureates delivered powerful messages on peace, hope, human dignity, and the unifying power of sport. Following the ceremony, students had the opportunity to meet the honorees and engage in discussions about international cooperation and global governance.

This participation marked an important component of the ELGU immersive MA & LLM programs, which aim to connect students with global institutions and practitioners shaping international law and governance — a cornerstone of the ELGU postgraduate experience.
